Top Mistakes to Avoid When Ordering Custom Printed Bottles
The expensive errors first-time buyers make — and how to dodge every one of them.
1. Sending raster art instead of vector
JPGs and PNGs pixelate at print scale. Always send vector (AI, EPS, PDF) with fonts outlined.
2. Picking the wrong bottle material
PET cracks under hot fill. HDPE clouds with certain solvents. Match the bottle to the product before you print.
3. Under-ordering
If your minimum is 1,000 units and you order exactly that, your second order will hit the same setup fee. Order 20–30% above your immediate need.
4. Approving a proof too quickly
Read every word, twice. Misspellings, wrong UPC numbers, and incorrect oz counts are the #1 reason brands get a free reprint that nobody actually wants.
5. Using too many colors
Each color multiplies your unit price and minimum. Two strong colors usually sell better than four muddled ones.
