Custom Bottle Printing & Label Alternatives

A specialty shop built around one discipline.

BJ Silkscreen specializes in direct bottle printing for brands, distilleries, beverage companies, and individual clients who need high quality decoration without the limitations of label printing. When you print directly onto a container, you eliminate the adhesive edge, the curved-surface tension, and the moisture vulnerability that make labels a fragile long-term choice.

The result is cost-effective at volume, premium in the hand, and brand-elevating on shelf. Whether you're placing a small custom bottle order for a market launch or a bulk run for national distribution, our flexible minimums and transparent pricing make direct bottle screen printing accessible at every stage.

What We Print On

Custom print for water bottles & glass bottles.

Custom Water Bottles

We print on stainless steel, aluminum, and plastic water bottles across every size and dimension — from 12 oz slim designs to 64 oz wide-mouth formats. Metal containers require solvent or epoxy-based ink that bonds without cracking as the bottle flexes. These runs serve athletic brands, promotional clients, corporate gifting, and retail channels — from small quantity personalized orders to large bulk production.

Glass Bottle Screen Printing

Glass surface printing demands precision. Ink must hit the glass at the correct pressure, angle, and cure duration. We print on wine bottle formats, distilled spirits glass, olive oil, sauce, and kombucha containers. We also handle frosted glass, a specialty substrate requiring different formulation than standard glass. A premium, tactile result that wine, food, beauty, and spirits brands increasingly choose over label printing.

Label Printing vs. Direct Print

A label's fundamental limitation is geometry: flat material on a curved surface. Every edge is a potential failure point — especially in cold chain, ice, or rough distribution handling. Direct printing works with the bottle's actual surface, eliminating that limitation entirely. For consumer brands where shelf presence and perceived value drive purchase decisions, the versatility of direct decoration versus a label is visible from across the aisle.

Our Process

Our bottle screen printing process.

  1. 01

    Custom Artwork Setup

We work natively with Adobe Illustrator AI and EPS files. Vector-based art lets our designer separate colors with precision at any bottle size — issues caught in pre-press cost nothing.

  2. 02

    Ink Mixing & Screen Prep

Every color mixed to Pantone specification. A dedicated screen burned per layer. UV cure energy calibrated to the substrate — frosted glass, clear glass, and metal each require different parameters.

  3. 03

    Bottle Screen Printing

Bottles rotate through the press on a mandrel jig. Each color layer is applied and cured before the next pass. Registration checked after every color change.

  4. 04

    Pack & Ship Nationwide

Finished bottles packed in foam inserts and double-wall cartons, shipped via UPS or freight with tracking. Customer service stays available through delivery.

Ink Systems

Ink types for bottle printing.

UV Inks for Glass & Frosted Glass

UV inks bond to the glass surface at a molecular level, producing eye-catching, high quality color with excellent long-term durability. They perform on both clear and frosted glass, including wine and distilled spirits packaging. For food-contact applications needing dishwasher safety, ceramic-fired ink fuses permanently into the glass.

Epoxy & Solvent for Metal

Metal water bottles need formulations that flex without delaminating over time. Our epoxy and solvent-based inks deliver consistent, vibrant coverage across bulk quantity runs — bottle one and bottle five hundred look identical.

Spot Color, Pantone & Gradient

Screen printing is a spot color process — each layer opaque and Pantone-matched to your brand specification. Up to 12 colors per run including gold and silver metallics. Halftone simulation produces gradient effects within the standard process.

Why Ink Beats Label

The decoration is the container.

An adhesive label always has an edge — a seam vulnerable to cold, moisture, and distribution handling. Ink applied directly to a bottle has none of those vulnerabilities. With reflective finishes, emboss-style effects, and specialty formulations available, the range of what's achievable far exceeds what any label printing process can offer. For brands building long-term consumer equity, that's a decisive advantage.
